Learn to Drive a Model T – Hands‑On History with the Antique Auto Club of America (Fort Lauderdale) 2026
February 28 @ 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Club picnic and Learn to Drive a Model T – Hands‑On History with the Antique Auto Club of America (Fort Lauderdale Region)
Who:
All club members and invited guests. (This might be a good excuse to become a member.)
What:
We’re rolling out a “Learn to Drive a Model T” experience that puts you behind the wheel of genuine 1908‑1927 Ford Model T (yes, the real deal—not a replica). Whether you’ve never touched a crank‑start motor or you’re a seasoned gearhead looking for a nostalgic thrill, this session gives you a safe, guided taste of early‑automotive life – plus a picnic that’ll fuel both body and soul.
Bring a valid ID, a smile, and wear comfortable shoes (the pedals are a bit low for modern drivers).
What you’ll get.
| Experience | Details |
|---|---|
| Pre‑Drive Briefing | Quick rundown on Model T basics: hand‑crank start, throttle pedal, foot‑brake lever, and the legendary “planetary” transmission. |
| Guided Test‑Drive | One‑on‑one time with a certified instructor (our very own antique‑car gurus) who’ll coach you through starting, shifting, and stopping—no “horse‑power” jargon, just pure mechanical fun. |
| Historical Nuggets | Fun facts sprinkled throughout: why the Model T was called the “Tin Lizzie,” its impact on mobility in the early 20th century, and how it helped shape modern road culture. |
| Photo Ops | Snap a pic with the classic steel beauty (and maybe a selfie with Niki, our therapy‑dog mascot, if she’s on duty!). |
| Safety First | Full safety gear, and a post‑drive debrief to answer any lingering questions. |
The Club will provide food and drinks. We would love to have you attend and enjoy an exceptional time together.
