DESCRIPTION:The Reyna Group Home has invited us to participate in a drive-by Halloween candy\, car parade for a special needs foster home on Oct 31st. \n \nRGH is a charitable\, community based residential care center for developmentally delayed male children and adolescents between the ages of 3-14. There will be at least 22 boys in attendance from the 5 homes.  One suggestion is to use a pole/net or pick up – reaching tool. (Sherry calls “old folks grabber stick”). The are not only concerned about their health but also about their emotional well being. In recent weeks we have gone from a full calendar of car related events to absolutely nothing – nada – zero – zilch. Locally the John Knox Village Annual Car Show was canceled. Also\, our biggest show of the year\, the Cooper City Founders Day Car Show is canceled. On a larger scale the Gasparilla Concours d’Elegance in Tampa\, which I was scheduled to judge\, is canceled. \nThis is the right thing to do. The health professional have warned against gathering of more than 10 or so people. Everyone is encouraged to keep at least 6 feet distance from others\, especially those they don’t know. \n\nSherry and I were talking about how we need to do something to lift everyone’s spirits and bring some sort of sanity and normalcy  back into our lives if just for an hour or so. \n\nWell\, that idea turned into this. On Saturday\, March 21st (the original date of the John Knox Car Show) Sherry and I will hold the first (and hopefully last) Coronavirus Social Distancing Car Show in our front yard.\n\n\n\n \n\nHere’s how it will work. Since we have a few cars to choose from we will be arranging a display of cars in our yard. We are putting up a banner and yard signs notifying neighbors and passersby that we are holding a Social Distancing Car Show (S.D.C.S.). They will be encouraged to stop and look at the cars – FROM A DISTANCE – and talk about our cars just like we do at any other car show. The will be signs reminding everyone to keep at least 6 to 8 feet distance from anyone they are NOT RELATED TO. We will not be serving refreshments or doing any other activities that will require or encourage people to make any type of contact. \n\n\nWe hope that you will join us at your own home. Bring your car out of the garage. Get you chair and sit there. I’m a sure people will stop and talk and you will make new friends or speak to some olds ones you have seen in a while.\n\nWe will get through this current crisis.
